On Sunday, May 23rd, at 4:13pm it will have been exactly 5 years since I gave birth to my first child...my sweet sweet baby boy Evan Michael.
He was an amazing baby...very smiley and loved to cuddle...rarely cried. As a toddler, he began to become a very caring child. He cared about others feelings and still to this day wears his heart on his sleeve. Now he is 5 years old and the list has grown. He has a huge heart and loves to do good things and make people smile. He is super funny and gets his giggle box turned over very easily. He is also very musical...he loves to sing and is into guitars and drums.
This post is to tell you about his birthday party but I want to share his birth story with you first, bc he is my very first child and it still sooo clear in my memory and so very special as well.
Mike and I had been married 9 months when we found out in September of 2004 that we were expecting. ACTUALLY, I was working as an assistant teacher and on my way to work on morning I felt extremely sick and also realized that i was LATE. So I made a dr's appt that morning and they drew blood and confirmed that I was indeed pregnant! I didn't call Mike...I wanted to surprise him at work. (he was working at M&F Bank then). I called my best friend Pam and tod her and then surprised my mom at work and told her. I called and had flowers and pink and blue balloons delivered to Mike's office that told him the news!!! I was due June 10, 2005.
The next 7 months were a breeze. Then, one morning at work I started feeling crampy and my back was hurting. After mentioning this to my co-workers they convinced me to call my OB to be safe. He told me to come in so I did. At just 27 weeks I had gone into preterm labor. I was in and out of L&D 5 times with contractions and on bedrest till they finally decided to induce me at 37 weeks.
On May 23, 2005, they started my Pitocin at 7am and it wasn't long before my contractions were coming strong and quick. The doctor came in and broke my water soon after that, but I hadn't dialated yet. He thought with my water being broken that maybe it would help get me started dialating. WRONG. Contractions were very intense, although I never cried...I mainly felt like I could slap the daylights out of someone. When my Stadol wore off I begged for an epidural, so once it was in it was immediate RELIEF!
Remember, they started the pitocin at 7am...by 3pm after my water being broken and even an epidural I had only dialated HALF of a centimeter. So, my sweet OB/GYN Dr.Cook decided it would be safer to just go on and do a cesaraen section. At 4pm they wheeled my back and at 4:13, I felt them left him out and then heard his sweet little cry. After a few hours in recovery the wheeled me to my room and then a few hours later they brought me my sweet baby boy. He weighed 5lbs 11oz and was 21in long and perfect. He absolutely stole my heart from the moment I layed eyes on him. It was so surreal to see him and know that he was MINE and that I was HIS MOMMY!!! Such a beautiful and overwhelming feeling!
Now, that sweet little angel is turning 5 years old.
NOW back to his party!
I asked Evan a few weeks ago what kind of party he wanted to have and he said he wanted a party at McDonald's but he wanted a "How to Train Your Dragon" bday cake. (this is from a disney movie) So, that's exactly what we did! He invited a few friends and of course all the grandparents...he had a blast. He got so much stuff it was insane, but he loved every single thing.
I will blog some pics in a new post!
These 5 years have flown by! And i cringe at the thought that in 5 more years he will be 10! Can't i just bottle him up and keep him this age forever?! I love that kid.
Snowy school days...

Wow, how I remember that call like it was yesterday. Then, how I remember my call to you just a few weeks after with my news of Sam. It was unreal going through our pregnancies, although mine was of my heart, with you. We have been through so much together and I praise God He have you to me for my best friend! Evan is so special to me, Ella as well, and my heart smiles each time I hear them call me Pam Pam! Happy Birthday, sweet Evan. I can't wait to watch you and Sam grow together and see all the new adventures that await you! I love you guys!
